La Colombe d'Or Hotel occupies a fabulous, early 20th century mansion located in Houston's vibrant Museum DistrictÂ… just 7 minutes from the city center. The hotel's proprietor, Stephen Zimmerman, meticulously restored the mansion's original 7 suites in 1981 and recently added 9 spacious Courtyard Apartments. The interior and grounds of the hotel provide a stylish backdrop for Mr. Zimmerman's extensive collection of art and antiques. In an area of the world where one hotel often resembles the next, La Colombe d'Or provides an entertaining antidote to the familiar "corporate hospitality". It is a very personal expression of the proprietor's unique vision a charming combination of fine accommodations, fine art and fine dining.
